Cheap Spring Kids’ Activities
Every spring, I find myself trying to find something new to do with my kids.
We enjoy spending a lot of time outside, but sometimes we want to go somewhere and try something new.
Here are some fun spring kids’ activities we have enjoyed over the years.

Nature Scavenger Hunt
Our kids have really enjoyed this find & seek nature scavenger hunt. I like that they’re cards that can be reused, rather than a chart; they mark off what they find. The stack is large enough to keep them busy for a while.
BIG Bubbles
You can buy a kit to make large bubbles, but we have had great results taking a metal clothes hanger and twisting it to make a large circle. Put bubbles on a plate, and then you have a large bubble wand. Dish soap with a little bit of water works really well, too.
Fly a Big Kite
You can take things up a notch this year with one of these giant kites for kids. Find a windy day when it’s hard to find something to do, and then bring out this amazing kite.
Make a Bird Feeder
I am all about keeping things simple. I love that this is a simple wooden bird feeder that you can build together. Your child will also get to personalize the bird feeder when they paint and decorate it.
Make a “Welcome Spring” Banner
You can usher spring in with one of these giant coloring banners that says, “Hello Spring”.
Plant a Garden
If you have never planted a flower, herb, or vegetable garden, this might be your year! Planting seeds doesn’t need to be complicated, and you don’t need a huge space. A container garden is a great goal to start.
Plant Flowers
Starting a flower garden is a learning experience every kid should have. Even if you don’t have a lot of space, something like this flower starter kit will allow you to grow some flowers in your home.
Create a Fairy Garden
You can have so much fun creating a fairy garden. And, the best part, your fairy garden never has to be complete because you can always find things to add to it. I am going to help you get started with this adorable fairy garden kit.
Sidewalk Chalk
I love all things sidewalk chalk. I love coloring, drawing, and writing encouraging messages with my kids. I know you can buy a random pack of sidewalk chalk, but I do think this Crayola chalk set is the best for vibrant colors and isn’t too much more expensive.
Paint Rocks to Leave at the Park
An easy thing to do is gather some rocks from around your house. You can take some simple paint, gather some rocks from around the house and paint them. Then, you take your painted rocks and put them in random places around the park or your neighborhood. They can bring joy to people!
Visit the Zoo
If it’s been a while since you’ve visited your local zoo, the spring is a great time to get out and see some animals. The animals are always glad when it starts to get warm outside again, especially those animals that stay inside for most of the winter.
You can save some money by packing some snacks and drinks to help keep things cheap.
Play at a New to You Park
One thing we really enjoy doing in the spring is trying out a new park. We have some local parks that we really enjoy, but it’s a lot of fun to take an adventure to a new park. There are so many amazing parks just waiting to be explored.
A great way to keep this as a cheap spring kids’ activity is to be sure to pack some snacks and drinks so you aren’t tempted to spend money somewhere.
Dissect a Flower
If you have never dissected a flower with your kids, do it this year. Grab a book about flowers from your local library. Then, grab a few different kinds of flowers and see if you can dissect and identify each part of the flower.
Try a Pogo Stick
Ready for a fun new adventure? A pogo stick is a great way to get your kid outside to play. There are also some awesome health benefits, like hand-eye coordination and finding a center of balance.
There are so many amazing activities you can do with your kids this spring! What is your favorite spring kids’ activity?
