Dried Fruit

I usually only eat dried fruit in trail mix, but occasionally, I like to eat it plain. Dried fruit is a convenient snack for breastfeeding moms because it’s easy to grab and eat when you have a free minute. It’s also a great way to bust a sweet tooth and avoid other sugary snacks. I do recommend choosing wisely, because a lot of dried fruit can be really high in sugar.

Mixed Nuts

Any kind of mixed nuts is a great addition to your breastfeeding snack collection. When you get a craving for a salty snack, mixed nuts are great because they have protein, healthy fats, and lots of great minerals for your body.

Dark Chocolate

Another great (healthy-ish) way to calm your sweet tooth is with some dark chocolate. Hormones can be crazy after having a baby, and even more so when you’re breastfeeding. Keep some dark chocolate pieces close by to keep cravings in check.

Veggie Chips

If you struggle to eat regular vegetables, but know you need some, Garden Veggie Straws can be a good option. Available in 4 different flavors, this variety pack of Veggie Straws will give you something crunchy to chew on without all the junk.

Healthy Snacks for Breastfeeding Moms

Prepared Fruit

I love a loaded fruit salad, but that isn’t convenient when trying to breastfeed your baby. Berries, apples, bananas, grapes, watermelon, and tangerines are great nursing snacks because they’re easy to grab and hold while feeding your baby. One thing to note here- some fruits have been tied to colic in babies. So be cautious of how much fruit you’re eating if you have a baby who has colic.

Prepared Vegetables

Cucumbers

Nuts

If you need a breastfeeding snack with a little more protein, consider having nuts on your breastfeeding station. Pistachios, peanuts, almonds, and walnuts have lots of great nutrients that are beneficial to breastfeeding moms.
