Advent Devotionals
It can be easy to get caught up in the craziness of the Christmas season, even as believers.
From Christmas shopping, to hosting Christmas parties, and baking cookies, to moving the Elf.
Our minds can get so caught up in all the things that we lose focus on the true reason for the season, and that’s celebrating the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
I want to encourage you that when the madness creeps in, you can choose to focus on the Advent season and keep yourself centered despite the craziness.
Today I’m going to share some amazing Advent devotionals with you. I have selected some just for women, and then I have also included a section of family Advent devotionals if you want to pull everyone in together to celebrate this Advent season. There is also one towards the bottom that has a video component, too!
Here is what I have for you!

Advent Devotionals for Women
Our Hope Has Come: Celebrating the Promise of Advent
This highly rated Bible study is broken up into 5 weeks. You can read it on your own, or grab a friend or a group of women who want to join you in your pursuit of staying focused during Christmas.
Through your study, you’ll dive deeper into the Christmas story and find the hope that only God can bring to you. By trusting God’s plans for your life, you can find your worth as His child.
God Hears Her, A Joyful Christmas
If you aren’t familiar, “God Hears Her” is an everyday devotional. And, as luck would have it, there is this amazing Advent devotional called “A Joyful Christmas”.
Similar to its sister book, “A Joyful Christmas” is a 31-day morning and evening devotional to guide you through the Advent season. Perfect if you want to have something easy to read every day to start and end your days focused on Jesus.
Here are my favorite Bible studies every mom should read.
Three Wise Women
I have personally loved learning about the women in the Bible. I find places I can relate to and seek wisdom. In “Three Wise Women,” you’ll get a chance to see Christmas through the perspectives of Mary, Elizabeth, and Anna.
For each of the 40 days, you’ll get a brief glimpse of a thought to ponder on, as well as scripture tied to that particular situation or thought.
In the Manger
I am a Max Lucado fan, and I have enjoyed many of his books. “In the Manger” is a 25-lesson devotional focusing on Advent. Each day provides you with a reading, a passage of scripture, and a prayer to keep you focused.
Each day will take you into a scene of the nativity and give you insight into what was happening.
The Perfect Gift: Unwrapping True Joy for Christmas
You can spend the first 25 days of December regaining your focus on the true reason for Christmas, Jesus. This 25-day Advent devotional will help you push out the crazy and find peace in Christ himself.
Every day offers 2 5-minute devotions. With ratings, many really enjoy the writer’s storytelling ability and his relatability.
Embracing Advent: Rediscovering Christmas in the Chaos
I am a Jen Ludwig fan, and I have enjoyed several of her books. I was excited to see that she has a daily Advent devotional for women. Focusing on the 4 pillars of Advent, hope, peace, joy, and love, Jen will help you to be present in the season and not get caught up in the busyness.
Each reading will only take you a few minutes, but it will give you thoughts to consider and help you slow down this Christmas season.
Here are my favorite Christian parenting books I’ve learned from the most.

Family Advent Devotionals
Laugh and Grow Family Advent Devotional
This 4-week Advent family devotional will help guide your family through the Christmas story with conversation starters, Bible verses to memorize, and fun games to play.
If you’re looking for a great way to stay focused during the Advent season and not become caught up in the commercialism of Christmas, this is a great Advent devotional for your family.
A Jesus Christmas
Ready for 25 days spent exploring God’s true plan for Christmas? With “A Jesus Christmas”, you’ll enjoy reading daily with your family, and then spending some time journaling about what you’ve read. You may use words, and your tiniest family members may draw pictures.
Each lesson will give you a part of the Christmas story to discuss, a section of scripture to focus on, and some questions to talk about with your kids.
The 25 Days of Christmas- A Family Devotional
When you’re ready to leave the crazy at the door and create a space to focus on Jesus during Christmas, make sure you’ve grabbed this great 25-day Advent devotional.
Similar to several of the other family Advent devotionals I’ve already shared, you’ll spend the days leading up to Christmas reading stories about Christmas, scripture tied to the events, and working on activities that help you remember the birth of Jesus.
Here are my favorite Advent calendars kids love!
Family Advent Devotional: Celebrate Christ Together
If reading can sometimes feel like a struggle, you’ll want to check out this 25-day Advent devotional for families that has a video element. An added bonus- it’s by Matt Chandler!
Every week, you’ll start the week with a video that prepares your heart for what’s ahead. Each day, you’ll have scriptures to meditate on, conversation starters to kick off the day, and prayers to end your day.
Unwrapping the Names of Jesus: An Advent Devotional
“Unwrapping the Names of Jesus” was one of the first Advent devotionals I purchased for our family. I actually purchased it for myself, and then quickly realised there was a book that goes with it that my kids would enjoy.
I appreciate that every day starts with an interactive family devotional. Every week you’ll have 5 days to work through, so if you miss a day or 2, it’s ok. There are also activity suggestions of things you can do with your family each week too.
The Way to the Manger: A Family Advent Devotional
“The Way to the Manger” is a beautifully illustrated, 25-day, family Advent devotional. It is a great read if you have younger children in your family. You’ll spend time walking through the 4 Advent themes of hope, love, peace, and joy. There are places for your family to journal about memories, activities to work on, and questions for discussion.
Here is my Christmas bucket list for kids.
All Creation Waits: The Advent Mystery of New Beginnings
If you have younger kiddos who aren’t ready for the depth of an Advent devotional, “All Creation Waits” is a great beginner Advent study.
All 25 lessons feature an animal, a picture of the animal, a scripture verse, and a story about how the animal is relevant to what God has for us.
The Wonder of the Greatest Gift
The last thing I want to share with you is kind of a book, yet also an Advent calendar of sorts. “The Wonder of the Greatest Gift” opens up as a book and features a pop-up Christmas tree inside. On the Christmas tree are 25 different doors, each with an ornament. There is a devotional booklet that goes along with each ornament, similar to the Jesse tree.
It is my prayer that you have found an Advent devotional that meets you where you are. Whether you need just 3 minutes a day to recenter your focus on Advent, or maybe you need an Advent devotional that brings your family together every night.
